Spring in our garden - אביב בא לגננו

עם עליית הטמפרטורות המבשרות את בואו הקרוב מדי של הקיץ

יש צמחים בגננו האומרים: תודה רבה! עד עכשיו היה לנו קצת

קר מדי... אחד מהם הוא האדניום, הוא ורד המדבר, האוהב את

עין-גדי מאד, ופורח בה חודשים רבים בפריחה נהדרת. צמח זה

ממש סובל בחורף, משיר עלים, ופרחיו המעטים חיוורים. כמה

שיחי אדניום מתחילים את האביב בפריחה סמיכה ועשירה, שצבעה

כהה במיוחד. את זה מצאנו ליד מגרש החנייה

Some plants in our garden do not like our very

pleasent winter - they need more heat. When April

comes, with the first really warm days - they say:

Thank You! That's what I meant! One of them is

the Adenium, which suffers quite a lot during the

winter, sheds most of its leaves, and keeps on the

rest a few pink-pale flowers. The reaction to the warmer

temperatures is not only new leaves and flowers,

but in some of the Adenium bushes the pink color

of the flowers comes out darker, and calls for our

admiration. This bush was found by the parking lot.

ילדיהם. קוקי הקדיש את שנות עבודתו בקיבוץ לחקלאות ולתיירות

והיה פעיל במערכת הניהול ובוועדות הקיבוץ. הוא יחסר לנו מאד

of our beloved friend and member of the Kibbutz -

Kuki (Yaacov) Yisraeli, who passed away suddenly,

and left us sad and shocked. The funeral was attented

by many many people: Kuki and Varda have lots of

friends, as well as their four kids. Kuki dedicated his

first years in Ein-Gedi to the date farming, and later

got involved deeply in the Ein-Gedi and the Dead Sea

region tourism system. We will miss him a lot.

שנה שלמה חלפה מאז פתחתי את בלוג 'התמונה השבועית של עין-גדי'. אם היו לי ספקות לגבי יכולת ההתמדה שלי, או לגבי הסיכויים לקבל תרומות צילומים מאוהבי עין-גדי נוספים - הרי שהחששות נתבדו, ומדי שבוע היה מה להציג באתר.

לבקשת איילה גלעד מצוות בית ההארחה הוספתי תרגום אנגלי לתיאורי התמונות - עבור אוהבי עין-גדי שמעבר לים. היה טוב לו יכולתי לצרף גם תרגום לגרמנית.

A year has passed since I opened The 'Ein-Gedi Daily Picture' blog. I was pleased to discover that it's not too difficult to get a new interesting picture every week, and that there are many Ein-Gedi lovers who are willing to share their photos with us.

Ayala Gil'ad from our guest-house has asked me to add the English texts, and it will be great if someone will volunteer to translate them to German too.

Pruning the Tespesias - גיזום הטספסיות

שדרת עצי הטספסיה נשתלה בט"ו בשבט בשנת 1964. העצים המבוגרים

מצלים על הכביש המחבר את בית ההארחה עם חדר האוכל שלו, ובעונת

הפריחה שלהם הם מקשטים בצהוב יפהפה את הדרך. הענפים המבוגרים

מהווים סכנה ממשית לאנשים ולמכוניות שמתחתיהם, ומדי פעם הם קורסים
מטה, ובנס לא התרחש אסון עד כה. גיל כספי מצוות הגן עוסק בגיזום חריף
של הטספסיות. זה נראה גרוע בתחילה, אך עד מהרה מוציאים העצים הגזומים

The Tespesia trees were planted in ther year 1964, along the

road connecting the guest-house with its dining room. These old

trees create beautiful shade, and their yellow big flowers please

all of us. The heavy branches tend to crash down from time to time,

which is a real danger, so they have to get a real haircut every few

years. Gil Kaspi, a member of the garden team, prunes big branches,

that will be replaced quite soon by new growing branches.

This dedicated team produces not only instruments and machines for

our Kibbutz. One of the quality products, that was invented and made

in Ein-Gedi is an iron construction that serves the date pickers.
