Sunset over Mt. Yishai - שקיעה על הר ישי

שעת בין-ערביים תמיד מעשירה את הצבעים לפני שיורד החושך. פסגת הר ישי

היא מבין האחרונות שזוכות לקבל עוד מספר דקות של שמש לפני השקיעה. צולם

Last hour before the darkness falls. The summit of Mt. Yishai

still gets some last sunlight. This is the time when

the nature's colours are richer. The picture was taken from

Nachal Arugot, opposite Tel Goren.

Choose Ein-Gedi - לבחור עין-גדי

חלפו, עברו הימים בהם עגבניות משדות עין-גדי נמכרו בשווקים, אך גם

It is almost 3o years that we do not grow tomatoes in

Ein-Gedi, but from time to time you can find in the markets

signs that say 'Ein-Gedi Toamatoes', as if you said: 'Tomatoes

Extra-Fine'. This sign was seen by Sarale Elbar in Hacarmel

Market in Tel-Aviv. The seller is probably sure they will

sell well under this title.

Memorial stones in the desert - מצבות במדבר

מעט דרומה לאפיקו של נחל אשלים התחתון, באזור בו נושק מצוק ההעתקים

השבור למשטחי חוואר הלשון, נמצא אתר נרחב ובו עשרות של מצבות אבן

שסגנונן מאד אחיד. האתר לא נחקר יסודית, וקשה לשער מה היתה מטרת

הקמת המצבות בו, ומאיזו תקופה הן. האתר עומד על אחד מהנתיבים של העלייה

ברגל מדרום ים המלח אל רמת המדבר, ויתכן ששימש לחניית לילה לפני התחלת

העלייה אל ההרים. זה מקום מתאים לתפילה להצלחת המשך הדרך. ליד המצבה

ניצב דר' גדעון הדס, ארכיאולוג העוסק בדרך כלל בתקופה היסטורית מאוחרת

הרבה יותר, ככל הנראה

A set of tombstones or a praying memorial site, one of dozens

of the same constructions found in a site a little south of Nachal

Ashalim, by the place where the Death Valley rift meets the

Chavar flats, opposite todays Dead Sea Works. The historical

period to which these stones belong or the purpose of their placing

here can only be speculated. The site was not thoroughly

researched. Many walking trails pass by this spot leading

from the south of the Dead Sea up to the Judean mountains,

so maybe this place was a night camping site before starting

the climb up to the Judeann Desert higher areas.
