Danaus chrysippus - דנאית הדורה ופריחת השיזף

הדנאית ההדורה, או בשמה העממי, דנאית תפוח-סדום, נראית כאן דווקא

על רקע עץ השיזף בפריחתו. פרפר יפהפה זה הופיע לפתע בהמוניו, וגדעון הדס

צילם אחד מהם

Danaus chrysippus, a beautiful local butterfly, called also

the Plain Tiger or the African Monarch. Gideon Hadas

was surprised to discover dozens of them on the blooming

Ziziphus spina-christi tree, and took a picture of one butterfly.

Instant Garden to a New Neighbourhood - שכונת המון מתחדשת

לפני מספר חודשים פונתה שכונת המוּן שהיתה מקום מגוריהם של המתנדבים, ואחרי כן

של העובדים הזרים. הקוביות הטרומיות הורמו במנוף והועתקו אל מעבר לכביש, שם

הן מחכות לגואלן שיציב אותן במקום קבע חדש. באתר המפונה הוכנו בזריזות תשתיות

למגורי החוקרים הראשונים שיאיישו את מכון המחקר של ים המלח, העומד לקום

כמפעל בו שותפה מחלקת המו"פ של המועצה האזורית. החודש הגיעו 2 משפחות ונכנסו

לשתיים מ-4 הדירות החדשות שהובאו למקום. צוות הנוי המסור השקיע ימים של עבודה

קשה בהכנת תשתיות להשקייה, טראסות ושבילים, ולבסוף - שתילה ונטיעה. המקום לבש

The "Moon" neighbourhood was the dwelling place of the Kibbutz

volunteers years ago. Then it was occupied by the foreign hired

workers. During the summer the place was cleared of all the old

houses, that were moved to another site, where probably they will

be connected to water, electricity etc, and will serve their traditional

uses for many more years. New houses were brought to the "Moon",

and today the site has 4 big new houses for the families of scientists

who are going to establish the new Dead-Sea reserch center. 2 families

are alredy here. Our gardeners worked very hard to create the

'Tamar' festival in Ein-Gedi פסטיבל התמר בעין-גדי

פסטיבל התמר השמיני התקיים, כבכל שנה, בסוכות. בנוסף למופעים הגדולים

קיים הפסטיבל קונצרטים וערבי זמר לקהל מצומצם יותר. עין-גדי זכתה הפעם

בשלושה קונצרטים 'על הדשא' - זה שבתמונה אירח את שמיניית ווקאל, שמונה

זמרי מקהלה, שביצעו א-קפלה תכנית שירים מגוונת ומרתקת בסגנון שהזכיר את

The eighth 'Tamar' festival of the Succot week was a success.

It gains more reputation from year to year, and there's a lot

to hear and participate. In addition to the bigger concerts,

that had audiences above a thousand, a few smaller concerts

were offered - three of them in the garden of our Kibbutz.

In the picture - the 'Vocal' ensemble - eight very good singers

that performed a most enjoyable program, reminding the

style of the Swingle Singers. The Ficus tree behind was a very
