השטפון בנחל חבר חשף בשבוע שעבר שכבות קרקע שהיו חבויות במשך שנים

רבות. בתוך האפיק החפור נתגלו כמה גושים גדולים של אספלט שחור, גושים

שנפלטו מקרקעית ים המלח לפני זמן רב, צפו על פני המים ו'עלו' על היבשה. שטפונות

שהביאו עמם סחף רב כיסו את האספלט, ועתה הוא שוב גלוי לעין כל.

The flood of Nachal Chever last week was of a kind that digs into the

riverbed and exposes lower layers of soil. Other floods do sometimes

the opposite: they bring from the mountains a lot of dirt and mud, and let

it sink here and cover the older riverbed. The exposing of lower levels

close to the beach have cleared the dirt around some old and big pieces

of black asphalt, of sizes that for quite a few years we haven't met in

Winter scenes are dramatic in the Dead Sea region. Last

days we had rain, floods, rainbows and lots of clouds that

help create the most interesting pictures.

their leaves, except for very few trees, 

like the Populus euphratica - the Euphrates Poplar.
