מחזור נוסף של המכינה הקדם צבאית 'מלח הארץ' ביומו הראשון

בעין-גדי. המסורת מאז המחזור הראשון היא לפתוח את שנת המכינה

בטיול רגלי בהפתעה - ממדבר יהודה לעין-גדי לאורך יומיים. החניכים 

הגיעו עם שחר אל בריכת השחיה, נתקבלו בטקס קצר, בכיבוד

ובטבילה מרעננת במים הנעימים. בתמונות - מנוחה בצל הצאלון הותיק

A new group of 30 18 years old boys start their program

of 'Melach Ha'aretz' in Ein-Gedi. It  is a very

exciting study, work and education program, preparing

the boys to the next step - the army service. They look tired

in the pictures, because they spent the last 2 days walking in 

the desert towards Ein-Gedi. This is the tradition.

שיטה סלילנית - מעצי הבר של בקעת ים המלח ומדבריות ישראל, נטועה

בחגורה ההיקפית של הקיבוץ, נשקפת אל ים המלח. הגזעים הולכים ונעשים

מעניינים משנה לשנה. את הסלילניות קל לזהות בצורת התרמילים. הזרעים

חביבים על בעלי חיים שונים

Acacia radiana, a native tree of the Dead Sea basin and the Judean

desert. The trees are planted at the edge of our garden, so they can

have semi-natural conditions. The trunks become more interesting

with the years. The sead-pods have the radial shape, which explains

the species name.
