Acacias in Nachal Yizrach - שיטים בנחל יזרח

החוג האזורי לטיולים, בהדרכתו של אלי רז, חידש את פעילותו. החוג מטייל

כשבת אחת בכל חודש מחודשי החורף והאביב במדבר-יהודה, ולפעמים יוצא

להרי ירושלים. הטיול בשבת שעברה היה מאומץ, אך המאמץ היה בהחלט

כדאי! נחל יזרח, שאיננו מוכר לרוב המטיילים, ואשר השבילים בו אינם קלים

במיוחד להליכה, נתגלה כמקום מקסים, עתיר בנופים ובחוויות. בתמונה - עמק

The regional hiking-club, guided by Eli Raz, has opened the

new Winter season last Shabbat. The destination was not so

familier - Nachal Yizrach, a canyon and a valley connecting

to Nachal Zohar. The landscapes from the slopes of the canyon

were a fantastic reward to the not-so-easy hiking challenge.

The Chavar (marlstone) hills east of Massada are not tall

mountains, but the steep cliffs of the hard Chavar and

the softness of the slopes that lead upwards to the cliffs

make the climbing a pleasure for young kids, and they

feel as if they conquered the mountain.

After the floods - אחרי השטפונות

נחל דוד פתח את עונת החורף בשני שטפונות, אשר חסמו את הכביש מעין-גדי

לירושלים למספר שעות, ואשר מילאו את הגבים בחלקיו העליונים של הקניון. בתמונה

המרפסת הידועה של הקניון היבש, מעל המצוק שמתחתיו נובעים מי נחל דוד בזרימה

קבועה. החלק העליון - על פי רוב יבש, כאשר בשנים רטובות ישנם גבים שמימיהם

Nachal David had two floods already, and the winter has'nt started

yet! This picture, made by Gideon Hadas, shows the rock 'balcony'

at the end of the dry canyon, just above the place where the springs

start their flow above the ground. This place is dry most of the year.
