Farewell to Winter clouds - פרידה מענני חורף

שמים מעוננים הם די נדירים באזור ים המלח - רק מספר ימים בשנה, והם מעניקים

מראה מיוחד לשקיעות ולזריחות השמש. מבט אל הדרום, עם רמז קל למצדה, הבולטת

מעט מעל קו רמת המדבר. עוד מעט וייעלמו המראות האלה - עד לחורף הבא

Clouded sky is quite rare in the Dead Sea region. Wintery sunrises

or sunsets, masked by clouds, are especially beautiful. Looking

Southwards from Ein-Gedi to Massada, that can be seen a little

higher than the desert plateau.

The new water reservoir - מאגר המים החדש

מעט דרומה לצומת הכביש העולה לקיבוץ הוקם מאגר מים גדול. המאגר

יכול להכיל עד 100 אלף קוב מים. המאגר החל לקלוט החל מתחילת החורף

מים מטופלים ממאגר הביוב של הקיבוץ, ובעיקר - מי עודפים מנחלי עין-גדי

הנאספים בו לקראת שימוש בקיץ. מאגר זה ישפר במידת מה את מאזן מי

ההשקייה לחקלאות בחודשי הקיץ. עדיין לא ברור כמה מים ילכו לאיבוד

באידוי או בדליפה אל הקרקע, אבל בינתיים המאגר מלא יותר ממחצית

A new water reservoir was built by the road junction under

the Kibbutz. This reservoir is collecting some sewage water

of the Kibbutz, after being proccessed in a close-by reservoir,

and bigger amounts of spring water, that are available during

the cool season. The water will be used for irrigation on

Summer, when there is always a shortage.

תמונה מפעילות בי"ס היסודיים (עינות מדבר ונאות הכיכר/ עין תמר) באמצע מרס

באזור נחל קדם שמצפון לעין-גדי. היום התקיים במסגרת שיעורי אקולוגיה

והכותרת שלו היתה "שלומו של ים המלח". הילדים הכינו ברכות לים שאותן שמו

במבחנות ושלחו לים. כיתות א'-ג' ניקו את החוף, חוף מדהים עם בריכות גופרית

טבעיות, בזמן שכיתות ד'- ו' בנו פסלים אינדיאנים - שומרי הסף. בסוף חיבקו הילדים

את הים בשרשרת ילדים ודגלים עם סיסמאות שהכינו מראש

This picture was taken at an educational activity of the region's

two elementary schools, dedicated to learning by action about

the importance of keeping our nature clean. The site -

the Dead Sea beach by Nachal Kedem, north of Ein-Gedi.

In addition to the garbage collecting the kids created

totems representing the nature guardians, and ended by

forming a hugging-chain of kids and blue flags.

Mango blossom - פריחת המנגו

מבט מקרוב אל אשכול תפרחת בעל אלפי פרחים זעירים של מנגו

במטע הצעיר של עין-גדי. המנגו פורח בסוף החורף, ומבשיל אצלנו

מוקדם, בתחילת יוני. ממיליוני הפרחים שעל העץ נשארים כמה עשרות

פירות בלבד. הגנה על התפרחות מפטריית הקימחון היא אחת המשימות

A close look at a rich inflorescence of a Mango tree

in the Kibbutz Mango plantation. Out of millions of flowers

on one tree only a few dozens remain to become ripe

fruit. Ein-Gedi Mango will be ripe very early,

in the beginning of June. One of the dangers to the

very young fruit is a fungus that spreads easily in

the plantation, if not taken care of.

Hazy sunset over Ein-Gedi spring שקיעה מבעד לאובך במעין עין-גדי

שקיעות בעין-גדי בדרך כלל אינן כה מיוחדות, שכן השמש נעלמת מאחורי

ההרים זמן רב לפני שיורד החושך. אבל לפעמים צובעת השקיעה את הרי

מואב בצבעי אדום-ורוד מקסימים, ויש גם ימים מוזרים כמו זה, שהיה אביך

ומאובק, ושעה קלה לפני שנעלמה השמש מאחורי ההר - אפשר היה להביט

Sunsets in the Dead Sea area are not so impressive, since

the sun disappears behind the mountains long before it gets

dark, but there are those special days when the sunset paints

the Moav mountains in pink-red color, or those dusty-hazy

days, when just before the sun disappears, you can watch it

behind the curtain of dust and enjoy the effect. This picture
