Late Summer Cactus Blooming - פריחה מאוחרת של שלהי הקיץ

רוב הקקטוסים בגן פורחים בראשית הקיץ, עם עליית החום הגדולה. לקראת סופו

של הקיץ, כשהטמפרטורות מתחילות לרדת, נזכרים חלק מהקקטוסים לפרוח

פעם נוספת, וזו מתנת פרידה מהקיץ. המין הזה של הקקטוס, אכינופסיס, אינו נובל

עם שחר, וממשיך להחזיק פרחים פתוחים במשך שעות מספר של היום

Cactus plants in Ei-Gedi bloom usually in the beginning of the

Summer, when the real heat starts. Some of them, when they

feel that the Summer is about to be over - decide to bloom once

more before it's too late... This Echynopsis Cactus keeps its

flowers open a few hours after the sunrise, so one can enjoy

the look in daytime.

Rescue Team Vehicle - רכב צוות החילוץ

צוות החילוץ של עין-גדי הוא וותיק מאד, ומאחוריו הישגים רבים של חילוצים

במדבר יהודה ובים-המלח. רכב זה, המשרת את הצוות כבר מספר שנים, מותאם

לנסיעה בשטח מדברי קשה לעבירות, מצויד במיכשור מגוון לחילוץ, כמו הכבל

לגרירה המותקן בחזית הרכב. בעזרת הכבל ניתן להעלות אנשים שנפלו לתהומות

ונפצעו. צילום: גונדי

The rescue team of Ein-Gedi exists for many years now. It has

a record of many rescue operations in the Judean Desert and

in the Dead Sea. This vehicle serves the team in desert operations,

like getting hikers who fell from cliffs into canyons and got wounded.

The cable in front of the vehicle can help pulling these people out.

Reeds in Nachal Arugot - סבך הקנה בנחל ערוגות

עבקנה שכיח, אחד הצמחים הנפוצים ביותר בנחל ערוגות, ביחד עם האשל, הפלגית

ושיח אברהם. העבקנה מתאושש בקלות לאחר שטפונות, גם אם כל הנוף העליון

שלו הוסר בזרם החזק. הוא מציץ שוב מהשורשים, שולח קנים על פני המים

ותוקע שורשים חדשים. בסוף הקיץ, לפני שמתחילים פעם נוספת שטפונות החורף

נראה נוף הנחל ירוק במיוחד

Arundo, a common reed of the Israeli creeks, is very dominant

in Nachal Arugot. Winter floods can destroy and wash away

all of its parts above the ground, but the plant recovers easily

by sending upwards new shoots from its living undergroud

roots. The new shoots crawl above the water and the rock,

looking for suitable places to drill for new roots. In the end of

the Summer - the creek is thick with greenery, mostly reeds and

Tamarisks.

Gossip... הרכלניות

מיכל ורוד, אמנית ותיקה וחברת קיבוץ עין-גדי, יצרה במשך השנים עשרות

ואולי אף מאות של פסלי קרמיקה. לאחרונה ניסתה כוחה בהוספת ציפוי

צבעוני, וזו אחת התוצאות: הרכלניות

Michal Varod, a kibbutz member and an experienced artist

had created dozens of ceramic sculptures, most of them of

human figures. Her recent experiments are with painted

figures, in bright colors, like these two Kibbutznik-women

sitting together and gossiping...
